What is this?

A rhythm machine built on one idea: take n steps around a circle (the bar, sliced into equal pieces) and spread k hits across them as evenly as possible. That's Bjorklund's algorithm — written to time particle accelerators, rediscovered in 2004 as the math behind most of the world's traditional rhythms. E(3,8) — 3 hits over 8 steps — is the Cuban tresillo. Each ring is one drum voice (low, mid, high), and the ↻ button rotates a pattern to move its downbeat. Perfect evenness is a metronome; the leftover asymmetry when k doesn't divide n is where the groove lives.
